US AGAINST A COOL WALL

Much has been said about The Great Leslie. “One is tall, another is small. One is thin, the other is…still quite thin”. Amongst all these eyewatering revelations, nothing truer can be said than, “they are masters of melody and commanders of crowds.” And it’s fair to say that these tall, small, thin and quite thin masters and commanders are launching their way to rock stardom with nothing getting in their way.

Since their formation and debut single in August 2020, the band has been on an upward trajectory with their first single ‘Money’ being selected as BBC Introducing’s Track of the Week and subsequent songs in 2021 garnering further support and accolades from the late Janice Long on The Great Leslie recording their Live album at Abbey RoadBBC Wales, and John Kennedy on Radio X. On top of that, their music video for ‘Out Of My Hands’ was featured on Channel 4’s Sunday Brunch. By the end of 2021, their list of supporters had grown to include: Kerrang! Radio, Planet Rock, Amazing Radio, BBC Introducing, BBC Wales, Islington Radio and XS Manchester, to name but a few.

2022 saw huge success across all their singles, ‘Feel Alive’, ‘Liquid Spells’, and ‘All Good Things’. All 3 managed to land on the Apple Editorial playlist ‘New in Rock’, across multiple locations around the globe. ‘Feel Alive’ obtained the band’s first Spotify Editorial success on the ‘Hot New Bands’ playlist featuring ‘only the best in UK Indie Rock’. Their last single of 2022 ‘All Good Things’ went further, gaining a spot on several Tidal playlists and performing so well that by the end of the year, Tidal placed it on its ‘UK Indie: Best of 2022′. Additionally, there was continued support from Amazing Radio, both in the States and the UK. ‘Feel Alive’ was also crowned ‘Track of the Day’ by Gigslutz and This Feeling and received airplay on both Radio X and Kerrang! Radio from John Kennedy and Johnny Doom respectively. ‘Liquid Spells’ was played on BBC Introducing and XS Manchester, with them both lauding the track’s energy and rhythm. Accompanying the success of their releases the band played incredible sold-out shows, and secured a career-best support with indie rock legends, Franz Ferdinand, on their European tour, playing in front of thousands of people in Manchester at the O2 Victoria Warehouse.

THE SONG FEATURES RUSSELL LISSACK OF BLOCPARTY

In 2023 the band released their debut EP, ‘The End and The Beginning’. Their song ‘Can’t Touch’, secured them their first major Spotify Editorial Playlists: ‘All New Rock’ and ‘Rock the World’. Additionally, the single attained repeated airplay on Amazing Radio and BBC Introducing. Their second single from the EP, ‘Get In’ also received further BBC support, and inclusion on Apple playlists peaked at Number 2 in the iTunes Alternative Charts and reached Number 1 on aBreak 58. The rest of the EP was all played on BBC Introducing with ‘Loving and Leaving’ becoming their vibe of the week and ‘Wait Around’ breaking through to the small screen being played on the British reality TV show, ‘Made In Chelsea’. After this monumental success, they released their second EP ‘21st Century Problems’, which received overwhelming praise and plaudits from disc jockeys and fans alike with Simon Le Bon raving about the first single ‘Burn Me, Drown Me’, and BBC Introducing and XS Manchester playing 4 of its 5 songs. And to top off their year they released a Live album recorded from Studio Two at Abbey Road.

Now the band are beginning to release their third EP, ’Heavy Unsteady’, with their second single ‘Just Say Yes’. It also features Russell Lissack from the prestigious BLOCPARTY.

Of the single, frontman Ollie Trevers had this to say:

‘The song is about getting to the last phase of a night of partying, reaching a peak where you feel so connected to the music that you end up dancing into the early hours of the morning, filled with tiredness and euphoria, delirium and ecstasy.’

The Great Leslie has almost 1.5 million YouTube views and over 500k Spotify streams thus far and is yet to break a sweat! Continuously demonstrating that they belong at the top of the bill with the biggest names in the indie scene.
